Jack M. Whiteside, P.E.
President
Mr. Whiteside is an internationally recognized consultant known for his expertise in merger and acquisition (M&A) due diligence, profit improvement initiatives, and new technology evaluations. He has over 35 years experience in the petroleum refining and natural gas midstream industries. His ability to expertly evaluate and assess the viability of potential investments in these sectors makes him a highly sought-after advisor by investors, lenders, and owners alike.
As President of Barnes & Click, Jack has effectively doubled the size of the firm to offer clients the benefits of broader, more diverse consultant background and expertise and deeper industry sector coverage.
Under his management, B&C developed its Profit1SM optimization program and has achieved great success for clients, using it to help them 1) understand how their oil refinery, petrochemical plant, or gas processing operation compares to industry pacesetters, 2) identify performance gaps, and 3) capture significant profit improvement opportunities. The Profit1 programs executed to date have generated sustainable, bottom-line benefits for each client ranging from $3 million to $15 million per year.
Before becoming President in 2001, Jack spent 24 years as a consultant with the firm and originated its M&A due diligence business. Jack has served as the technical and economic advisor performing asset evaluations for buyers and lenders in the acquisition and/or financing of numerous gas midstream transactions ranging in value from $20 million to over $500 million. He has conducted or supervised evaluations of more than 50 transactions with an aggregate value of more than $6 billion. Today, B&C is the independent consultant of choice for a number of national and international banks active in energy lending.
In his continuing role as consultant/manager, Jack performs and leads technical and economic feasibility evaluations on behalf of lenders and investors considering ventures in new technology applications. These ventures have included both conventional hydrocarbon processing and non-conventional energy sources, such as ethanol from cellulosic biomass.
Jack also serves as an expert witness, offering litigation support in disputes involving petroleum refining and gas processing economics, contract disputes, and asset valuations.
He has served as Chairman of the North Texas Chapter of the Gas Processors Association and recently completed a term as President of the North Texas Energy Council, a nonprofit, non-partisan consortium of 26 professional, educational, and industry organizations dedicated to serving the energy industry in North Texas and representing it before the public.
