Jeffrey J. Spearman
Senior Consultant
As a Senior Consultant with Barnes and
Click, Mr. Spearman brings to his clients over 20 years of petroleum
downstream and natural gas midstream sector expertise focused on the
analysis and exploitation of market trends, feasibility studies,
merger and acquisition due diligence, asset optimization, and
litigation support. He has worked with clients in the US, Central
and South America, West Africa, Scandinavia, Southeast Asia, and the
Middle East.
Jeff excels at providing comprehensive
and integrated Owner's or Lender's Advisor services, tailored to the
unique needs of each client. He is an expert in the analysis of
market trends, the development of business strategies designed to
extract the greatest value for his clients from such movements, and
the performance of technical and economic feasibility studies of
specific projects conceived within these strategies. Jeff also
specializes in downstream and midstream M&A due diligence on behalf
of buyers, sellers, and financing institutions, as well as
transaction analysis for other interested parties. He utilizes his
considerable hands-on industry experience to work with owners and
operators to optimize the performance of existing assets, and has
employed his technical background to assess the viability of
emerging and underdeveloped technologies.
Jeff serves as an expert witness
providing litigation support services focused on the development of
appropriate strategies in cases relative to contract disputes,
business interruption claims, and the valuation of gas midstream and
petroleum downstream facilities.
Prior to joining B&C, Jeff was a
Principal Consultant at another firm where he was responsible for
conducting market studies, developing appropriate business
strategies, performing feasibility studies, optimizing existing
asset performance, and providing litigation support, largely to
clients in the petroleum refining sector. He led the development of
an improved refining asset valuation methodology used extensively by
refiners, assessors, and finance and insurance companies.
Beginning his career at Marathon Oil
Company, Jeff held increasingly complex refinery operations
supervisory roles following foundational assignments in which he
provided technical support of fluid catalytic cracking (FCC) and
associated conversion processes. Additionally, he was project
engineer for new process units and other significant capital
improvements.
Jeff is a sought after speaker who has
presented to both small and large groups including regional industry
trade associations, annual gatherings of investment and commercial
banking executives, and bar association continuing education
seminars. His presentation topics have included Today's Energy
Market, Integrated Energy Industry Benchmarks, Introduction to the
Gas Midstream Industry, and Refining Fundamentals and
Fallacies.
