As a Senior Consultant with Barnes and Click, Mr. Spearman brings to his clients over 20 years of petroleum downstream and natural gas midstream sector expertise focused on the analysis and exploitation of market trends, feasibility studies, merger and acquisition due diligence, asset optimization, and litigation support.  He has worked with clients in the US, Central and South America, West Africa, Scandinavia, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East.

Jeff excels at providing comprehensive and integrated Owner's or Lender's Advisor services, tailored to the unique needs of each client.  He is an expert in the analysis of market trends, the development of business strategies designed to extract the greatest value for his clients from such movements, and the performance of technical and economic feasibility studies of specific projects conceived within these strategies.  Jeff also specializes in downstream and midstream M&A due diligence on behalf of buyers, sellers, and financing institutions, as well as transaction analysis for other interested parties.  He utilizes his considerable hands-on industry experience to work with owners and operators to optimize the performance of existing assets, and has employed his technical background to assess the viability of emerging and underdeveloped technologies.

Jeff serves as an expert witness providing litigation support services focused on the development of appropriate strategies in cases relative to contract disputes, business interruption claims, and the valuation of gas midstream and petroleum downstream facilities.

Prior to joining B&C, Jeff was a Principal Consultant at another firm where he was responsible for conducting market studies, developing appropriate business strategies, performing feasibility studies, optimizing existing asset performance, and providing litigation support, largely to clients in the petroleum refining sector.  He led the development of an improved refining asset valuation methodology used extensively by refiners, assessors, and finance and insurance companies.

Beginning his career at Marathon Oil Company, Jeff held increasingly complex refinery operations supervisory roles following foundational assignments in which he provided technical support of fluid catalytic cracking (FCC) and associated conversion processes.  Additionally, he was project engineer for new process units and other significant capital improvements.

Jeff is a sought after speaker who has presented to both small and large groups including regional industry trade associations, annual gatherings of investment and commercial banking executives, and bar association continuing education seminars.  His presentation topics have included Today's Energy Market, Integrated Energy Industry Benchmarks, Introduction to the Gas Midstream Industry, and Refining Fundamentals and Fallacies.
